Payment & Policy Information

Active membership in the U.S. Lighthouse Society is required for all tours. For individuals travelling with a roommate, only one needs to be a member. Learn more about becoming a member in the Membership section of this site.
Tour deposits are $200.00 per person for all tours. Your space on an expedition is not guaranteed until a deposit is received.
Payment In Full
Invoices are mailed 75 days in advance of tours and payment in full is required 45 days prior to departure for both domestic and international tours. Tour packets containing the final itinerary, tour journal, name badges and other tour related items will be mailed approximately three weeks in advance.
Extra Hotel Nights
Tour participants often request additional room nights (before and after a tour) at the rate the Society is charged. Depending on the individual hotel's reservation and payment policies these arrangements can made either directly with the hotel or through the Society office. Contact the office for details about a specific tour.
Tour Cancellation/Refund Policy
Tour cancellations within 30 days of the beginning of the tour are subject to a $50 per person administrative fee. Every attempt will be made to refund as much of the tour payment as possible. However, any non-recoverable advance payments or other financial commitments that cannot be cancelled will be deducted prior to any refund.
Trip Cancellation Insurance
Travel insurance through a third party company is available. Please contact the Society office for more information.
Partial Tour Attendees
We occasionally receive requests from members living in the area of a tour who wish to stay in their homes and drive their vehicle behind the bus to the various lighthouses we visit. Unfortunately, our schedules and timing do not provide for this option. However, we do encourage members living in the area of a tour to join us for dinner. Occasionally we can take non-tour members on the cruise portion of a tour. Contact the office regarding the options for a specific tour.
Tour Itinerary Changes and Religious Services Policy
While every attempt is made to adhere to a tour's published itinerary, occasionally it is necessary to make adjustments prior to or during a tour. This is normally a result of unavoidable cancellations, inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Whenever possible, alternatives will be substituted for the cancelled or missed activities. However, we cannot guarantee that any specific tour activity will ultimately be included. Finally, our schedules do not normally allow for members to attend Saturday or Sunday religious services.
