It is rain water, stored in cisterns, no precautions have been taken to insure its purity. It is thought that washing the cistern out once in 2 years will keep the water pure.

 

Cistern is placed near dwelling & has capacity of 6000 gals.

 

Cistern - brick laid in cement mortar - top is covered with grooved & tongued boards laid on strong cross beams.
