Keeper lives in tower

for boats navigating the Columbia River.

Tower of wood firmly anchored to a stone pier with iron bolts.

Tower is built of wood & in shape of frustrum of a pyramid, & has 2 stories, lower 1 being occupied with clockwork which operates bell, keeper's bed, table, stove, etc., while upper story used for storage & outside upon a platform bell is located.

Tower located upon rock which at low water projects above about 8', & is prolongation of Warrior's Point on N side of W end of Sauvies Island on Columbia River, OR. On the rock a stone pier, 16' high is built, shape is a square with triangular addition.
