Cast iron top of pedestal 6' dia surrounded by small brass rail below bottom of lens.
Tube of sheet copper 3' 6" long, 6" dia at top, 4" at bottom, into which damper tube slides, & is held by stem of damper engaging with bevel gear held in bracket hanging from upper tube.
